EXPERIENCE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Captain Al has held a masters grade
license for over 25 years. His fishing and commercial boating knowledge of the Atlantic
and Gulf coast is both inshore and offshore. Starting out as a mate on charter boats here
in New Jersey and working his way up to the wheel house of offshore crew/supply and party
boats in the Gulf of Mexico and the Mid Atlantic coast. He is endorsed by major tackle
manufacturers and as a member of the Professional Fly and Light tackle Guides association
(PFLGA) you can be assured that Captain Al will introduce you to the lighter more
challenging side of inshore sport fishing with artificial baits and fly fishing and pass
on some of his experience to you.
Why A2Z Fish?
Fishing
professionally both inshore and offshore, Captain Al has realized that you can have a
great time going to the Deep Blue, but you are passing a great fishery on the way out!
Inshore light tackle and fly fishing can be rewarding and challenging. From seeing your
kids catch their first Striped Bass or you nailing your first saltwater fish on a fly
rod, how about just a day out on the water enjoying some quality time with family and
friends. That's what it's all about! Let Capt. Al's experience introduce you to the
lighter side of back bay fishing with artificial baits and salt water fly
fishing.
Where do we fish?
We fish mostly protected waters of the Barnegat Inlet area of the
bay, grassy flats, creeks, back bays, going the extra mile to locate and catch quality
fish.
The Boat
The Old Mans Toy is a 22' TWIN VEE power catamaran. With twin 90hp
outboards, 8'6 beam, shallow draft for skinny water plus the ability to run the bay
smooth, dry and stable, even on those not so nice days. She has a huge forward casting
deck and plenty of room to move about and fish.. Since I launched the Cat I have had some
salty folks out fishing and it's fun to watch their reaction to the awesome ride and
stability of the catamaran, not to mention the amount of room to fish. The boat is by far
the most stable fishing platform and the smoothest riding boat in it's class - Capt. Al.
The boat is equipped with modern fish finding, navigation and communication equipment as
well as all the required safety gear to keep your trip safe and fun!
How is the Barnegat Bay doing?
Tighter Environmental laws, improved water quality, and the catch
and release attitude of sportsmen and the commercial guys being somewhat concerned, have
led to a resurgence of weakfish and striped bass stocks, and have made this bay system a
hot spot for fishing in southern New Jersey!
